FIND OUT MORE ABOUT OUR APPROACH

LUKE & ALLIE

PHOTOGRAPHER MEETS CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Back in 2011 when we shot our first wedding together, we were simply friends that approached life with a desire to capture beauty, a shared loved for art, and a nostalgia for the romance a wedding day holds.

Today, those things are still true but are more deeply rooted. Being married ourselves, we know the importance the role photography plays in helping to capture and preserve the memories of such a special day. From Luke as your day-of photographer, to Allie as our creative director making all the behind the scenes photo magic come to life, we take every wedding that we are a part of as an immense honour.

Our approach to wedding photography is to provide timeless and romantic images that can be enjoyed for decades to come, and that your wedding photography experience is enjoyable, and only adds to the memories of your day.

Some of our favourite weddings to photograph have been located close to home here in Toronto, and in South Carolina where we met at University. We also have had the privilege to travel across the globe to Paris, London, New York City, Los Angeles and Hong Kong capturing beautiful love stories.

Artists first, we are inspired by painters like Edgar Degas, and Vincent Van Gogh, and you can often find us on our days off in local art museums.

We would be honoured to create photographs for you and your family that will become heirlooms of your wedding day.

KIND WORDS

"Luke and Allie work together beautifully to capture the energy and vibe of the couples that they work with. For us personally, we were a bit camera shy as it was our first time having professional photographs done together but they put us right at ease and helped to make us feel comfortable.

We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a professional, passionate, and skilled couple with a strong attention to detail to capture your wedding."

1. FAVOURITE CITY?

I was nervous to visit Paris for the first time, because I thought it was full of heart shaped balloons, and Eiffel tower key chains. Instead it's become a huge source of inspiration, for both me personally as an artist as well as my wedding photography.

2. FAVOURITE MUSEUM? RICHELIEU WING OF THE LOUVRE

I have many favourite art museums but there are two reasons I love the second floor of the Richelieu at the Louvre. 1) It contains a lot of dutch masters, which was my first real introduction into art, and always hold fond memories for me. 2) It much quieter, and a more secluded part of the museum, with a few great views.

3. FAVOURITE PART OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Connection. Yes I love photography, but I love people. I love making people feel at ease, and welcomed. I'm not just a photographer, I take photos for people, I serve individuals through my work, and my favourite part of photography is when someone says they enjoyed their time in front of the lens, and not only that but they loved the photos, because they were relaxed enough to be themselves.

4. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF A WEDDING DAY?

The first bridal portraits of the day. It's typically right after the bride puts her dress on for the first time, and there is an incredible energy in the room, and the realization she was now fully become a bride, and it's starting to set in for her as well as everyone around her.

5. WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE FILM STOCK?

Portra 400. The muted colours, and the magic it does on skin tones makes me giddy every time I pull another roll out. Not to mention that Christmas morning feeling when you get your photos back from the lab.

1. WHAT ARTISTS INSPIRE YOU?

Edgar Degas’ ballerinas, every Van Gogh I can get a peek at, and the way Claude Monet beautifully painted so many pretty flowers.

More broadly, I love going to the ballet. I leave feeling filled up, ready to be creative, and to capture beautiful things.

2. HOW DOES BEING AN ENNEAGRAM 4 IMPACT YOUR WORK?

I’ve always felt things very deeply, and worked for years as a neonatal nurse before switching careers to photography. Being there with people during the worst days, and now their very best days, allows me to love and live more deeply.

3. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE FILM STOCK?

Can’t get away from the beauty of Portra 400, and in my free time I love using my Instax polaroid camera, a Nikon 28ti point and shoot, and my super 8 video recorder. I’m definitely drawn to all things analog!

4. WHAT DRAWS YOU TO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?

The beauty of the stationary, the florals, the gown and all the accessories, but more deeply, the significance and sacred nature of the union, and the unmistakable joy that is felt.
